“I love my job,” said Tina Hindenlang, who’s been working as a Direct Support Professional at Bi-County Services since 2004. “If I could do it for free, I would. But everybody’s got bills to pay.”
Tina works primarily with two men who live in Decatur, one in his own apartment and one who lives with his family.
Tina has worked with Larry Bulcher her entire 18-year career and enjoys cooking, shopping and watching zombie movies with him. He attends her family’s holiday gatherings and cookouts and is “almost part of the family,” she said.
Tina has worked with Landon Couch for about 12 years and is close with his family. They’ve taken vacations to Florida together and plan to go to California next year.
“Tina is a very caring staff for her people and an excellent advocate for them as well,” says her supervisor, Dewayne Macon, who is both consumers’ program manager. “Tina actively involves her consumers with her family on the holidays and special occasions to make them feel like part of her family.”
Larry Bulcher said he enjoys doing things with Tina, joking that they’re “practically married” in terms of how much time they spend together.
“I just love Bi-County, I just love the staff. Everybody’s so caring. I like it because it’s family-oriented.”
